Abstract

This paper is an assessment on the availability of resources necessary for the effective teaching and learning of science laboratory technology (SLT) in Adamawa State polytechnic Yola. The study aim at ascertaining the availability of personnel in teaching SLT, availability of infrastructure and conduct of practical in teaching same. 200 questionnaires were distributed among 190 students of SLT and 10 staff of same department using the non-probability volunteer sampling style. The questionnaires were designed on the likert scale and the results analyzed using mean responses and percentage. The result showed that there are adequate Staff in SLT Department in Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola. 50% of the respondents inked that there are sufficient infrastructure/laboratory for teaching and learning. With regards to conduct of practical 60% of the population were of the opinion that sufficient practical is conducted in the teaching and learning of SLT in the school. With the above it can be concluded that there is adequate number of personnel in the school, sufficient practical are being conducted in teaching SLT but there is the need for modern laboratories and increase in the conduct of practical to improve the teaching and learning of SLY in in the school
